But an autobiographical statement is static, the fixed document of a person in flux. This is why the best account that someone can ever give of themselves is not a statement but a pledge - a pledge to the principles they value, and to the vision of the person they hope to become.

Chapter 6

In which risen requests help from SkewedZeppelin the group owner, strcat repeats personal attacks, and raises suspicion of "feels **very** similar to a certain person on Reddit"

risen:
SkewedZeppelin: If strcat is going to give us daily lengthy messages (and corrected messages), how should Gos comments they don't respond to be handled? I really hadn't been singling them out, but as long as they're doing what they're doing, it might seem appropriate to remind them of unaddressed topics. Or should I just let those slide?

you've been spreading misinformation about GrapheneOS here with blatant lies, spin and personal attacks on me for months and months, and I have not been here to respond to it / refute it
Nov 28 23:35

what 'unaddressed topics' do you think there are?
Nov 28 23:36

you know it's possible to engage in discussion where you just stop being nasty and constantly making attacks, but instead just ask questions or discuss things?

The above is an untruth, a lie. The more you repeat it, the more you harm your own reputation. The more you are pushing someone who was unimpressed to a stronger form of dislike. You should stop it.

people here have seen you doing it for months and you **continue** doing it and repeatedly attacking me again and again

I've only posted here in response to your attacks, and would have been doing so earlier had I know someone was trying to harm GrapheneOS spreading lies about it nonstop in this room

how about you just stop? what do you think you're gaining from beyond derailing this chat?
Nov 29 02:22

you've been highly malicious and dishonest towards GrapheneOS for months, don't bother pretending it started after I joined this room following a particularly bad incident of your behavior
Nov 29 02:25

I'm not going to stop defending myself from your dishonest malicious attacks
Nov 29 02:26

you'll welcome to go do something more useful than trying to harm an open source project by spreading lies about it and one of the developers

risen:
Responding like a broken record doesn't help anything. You should stop.
Nov 29 02:31

strcat:
try going 48h without making dishonest, underhanded attacks on GrapheneOS and myself
Nov 29 02:34

SkewedZeppelin:
risen, you have been more egregious with the jabs these past few days

it is unnecessary
Nov 29 02:35

strcat:
I don't really think it has gotten worse based on searching for 'gos' and looking at his past messages

I'm just seeing and responding

risen:
The _strcat_ is calling me a liar with zero justification. Wtf do you expect?
Nov 29 02:36

strcat:
afaik has never interacted with us, never been banned from our rooms, etc.

don't think there is any prior basis for this grudge to exist

unless of course this is just 1 account of several across platforms because it feels **very** similar to a certain person on Reddit
Nov 29 02:37

I don't want to be arguing with them in this room, I'd rather talk about topics shared between GrapheneOS and DivestOS particularly things were collaboration could happen
Nov 29 02:38

risen:
I'd like to hear why you don't get more concerned about emergency call failures, but not when you start out lying about me.
Nov 29 02:40

strcat:
don't know what you're referring to

emergency calls work the same way on GrapheneOS as the stock OS / AOSP
Nov 29 02:48

GrapheneOS doesn't have network-based location integrated into the base OS so it's not as good at providing location especially for Wi-Fi calling but that's the same as AOSP
Nov 29 02:49

the only concrete, factual thing I have seen you post as a criticism is that AOSP Messaging doesn't have a dark mode and we prefer suggesting people use a better SMS/MMS/RCS app than investing our resources into adding features to a dead project with only security fixes applied upstream
Nov 29 02:51

risen:
Ima ignore you a while. We can take it up another time if you can be civil.

strcat:
we do update the MMS database to match Google Messages, which many alternate SMS apps may not be doing, but they should be

risen: take up what? you refer to something about emergency calls without specifying what, which is similar to what you keep doing elsewhere: spreading claims that something is wrong with nothing concrete to say, and often untrue things
Nov 29 02:52

I can go back through your messages to you doing the same thing again and again like trying to imply something nefarious is happening because we split out as much of sandboxed Google Play as possible into https://github.com/GrapheneOS/platform_packages_apps_GmsCompat and are converting it into a text file configuration (https://github.com/GrapheneOS/platform_packages_apps_GmsCompat/blob/13/gmscompat_config) we update out of band via GmsCompatConfig
Nov 29 02:54

with the point being it minimizes changes needed in the base OS, which I should note are *all* gated on a simple check for whether official signed Google Play is installed, and it's inactive otherwise, and also only used for Google Play not other things
Nov 29 02:55

you say I'm not addressing things but you've been simply making false claims here for months, not directed towards me, not expecting I would see it and respond, and it's almost all just shallow attacks / jabs with nothing concrete stated so people have mostly just brushed it off / not engaged, which unfortunately has allowed you to continue unimpeded harming us here
Nov 29 02:57

tell me what you want addressed then, what about emergency calls are you talking about?

and I hope it's clear the sandbox for sandboxed Google Play is the regular full app sandbox, nothing custom

It's an upstream issue: https://piunikaweb.com/2022/11/25/google-pixel-emergency-call-occasionally-failing-is-a-big-problem/
